self confidence and sport

Back in the 1980s I remember seeing a report on TV about the England football team at the time. One of the well known players, who had a reputation as being a bit of a hard man on the pitch, at the time was shown to be using a self hypnosis tape to improve his self confidence. The pundits ridiculed him stating that any professional should have all the self confidence he needs. This player had a very successful career and has performed well in the managerial and coaching arenas too. Perhaps he was a man before his time.

Nowadays many professional teams and individuals in the world of sport employ sports pyschologists, understanding only too well the need to get self confidence as a part of the mental fitness along with the physical fitness. Americans are particularly hot on this subject and lets face it they have produced their fair share of winners in the past.

At present we hear how the players at Newcastle United are lacking in confidence and if only they could get one win under their belt; this would be the only self confidence technique they would need. My team Gillingham had their first win in seven a couple of weeks back. With their new developing self confidence they can now pull away from the relegation zone of League One. Last Saturday they mustered a 0-0 draw against Yeovil Town. Had plenty of chances to win it, but did not quite have the self confidence in front of goal.

Perhaps they need to employ a sports psychologist or maybe they can get some useful hints through some of the products offered through www.getselfconfident.com .

It could help them, it could very well help you if you want to find out how to build your self esteem and confidence. Click on to www.getselfconfident.com and sign up for the free seven lesson course on the self confidence techniques that I used and still use to improve my self confidence.
